A man writes because he is tormented, because he doubts. He needs to constantly prove to himself and the others that he’s worth something. And if I know for sure that I’m a genius, why write then? What the hell for? 

The “back-of-the-head” shot here completely warped my brain. I think I’m still bearing the consequences of witnessing this film.

Why is Tarkovsky the ultimate filmmaker? Its the difference between flickering moving pictures and punching a hole through time into a living world. The feeling reminds me of suddenly finding someone is standing in the same room as you.
